6 Months!

Emily is now 6 months old, and we're just loving every minute. Her personality has really developed, and she's so fun to be around! She's really started to notice our dogs more and more. Don't tell Charlie, but I think Callie is her favorite. Emily always reaches out for her if she's nearby. Her favorite toys are still the ones that make crinkling and crunching sounds, but she also has begun to really like storytime before bed. She still hasn't completely mastered sitting on her own yet, but we think that she'll be doing it in no time. Emily also has shown some interest in trying to crawl, but her true love these days is her Jumperoo.

Solid foods have been fun. So far she has tried rice cereal, oatmeal, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, apples, pears...AND a tiny bite of Yogli Mogli blueberry frozen yogurt that Fouad gave her! I still can't believe that. We've also noticed that she has started drooling a lot more lately as well gnawing on almost anything, so we think she may be getting her first teeth soon. Lots of things to look forward to!

Look what I can do!

Someone has learned how to sit up...but only in the bathtub! Emily's still getting used to sitting on her own, but every time we put her in the bathtub with her toys she sits for the entire time!

Snow Fun!

So, I had the flu during the snow/ice storm that came through Atlanta a few weeks ago. I was miserable and couldn't move from our sofa. Thankfully, Fouad came to the rescue and was Mr. Mom for the week. We're so lucky to have him around :-)

The saddest part was that we didn't go out and play in the snow! After I was feeling better (almost a week later), there was still a small amount of snow in our yard, but we still took advantage of it and let Emily enjoy her first real snow.

Emily at Daycare

When I decided to go back to work part-time a few months ago, Fouad and I were VERY worried about finding childcare for Emily. We were just dying at the thought of leaving her at a daycare, but decided one day over lunch that we would check out the Kids R Kids near our house. Both of us went in expecting to hate it, but we were shocked to come out excited to get her started! We really love her teachers and all of the staff at Kids R Kids, and we really feel like she's getting a lot out of being there enteracting with other babies and teachers! One of my favorite things about our daycare is that they have webcams that allow me to check in on Em throughout the day at work. It really helped put my mind at ease the first few weeks, and now it's fun to log in and see what she's doing throughout the day! Here's a few screenshots of Emily and her friends:

Happy "Noon" Year!

We didn't think Emily would make it to midnight on New Year's Eve (who am I kidding...I knew that I couldn't make it to midnight...) so we went to celebrate "Noon" Year's Eve in Vinings with Radio Disney. They had all kinds of cool stuff for kids like bounce houses and dance parties! We rang in the "Noon" Year with Alli and Aunt Nadine. It was a lot of fun, and something I'm sure we'll repeat next year.

Emily's First Christmas

What a wonderful Christmas we had! We started off by visiting my parents on Christmas eve. My grandmother was able to travel from Birmingham again, and this time she got to enjoy Emily all day! We had a wonderful meal and quality family time. Of course, Emily had lots of presents to open from her Uncle Andy and her grandparents. She had a great time with the wrapping paper and tissue paper from all of her gifts :-)

On Christmas day, Emily woke up and opened her presents we hosted dinner at our house. It was so nice to have our family and friends join us for Emily's 1st Christmas. We also had a special bonus - the first white Christmas in Georgia in over 100 years! Emily enjoyed watching the snow from inside, it was just too cold to venture out. Here's a quick video of Emily opening some of her gifts:
